What does the registration fee include?
That depends on the retreat. Each retreat will have listed the items included in your registration.
Are there any additional fees?
Some retreats have classes that require additional material or kit fees.
For example, the sewing retreats have mini-projects that each have a pattern or kit fee, in addition to the registration fee. There will also be a cost to ship your kit(s), and applicable taxes for Illinois residents. If you don't pay the pattern/kit fee, you can still attend the mini classes and you'll have access to the videos afterward. You can get all, some, or none of the kits. It's up to you. Our designers appreciate your support, of course, but you get to choose.
For retreats that have shipped goodies, there may also be a shipping fee added to your registration. You will have the option to choose between First Class or Priority Mail; we recommend using priority mail if you are within 3 weeks of the retreat date.
Why do you need my shipping address if this is an online retreat?
Some retreats include goodies in the mail! That's right; even though they are online retreats, we want you to still have a little something from us to trigger a happy memory. If shipped goodies are included, this will be mentioned in the main retreat page.
You will have the option to choose between First Class or Priority Mail; we recommend using priority mail if you are within 3 weeks of the retreat date.
Will the event have closed captioning?
We are investigating the capability to have live closed-captioning as part of the retreat; during registration, we're asking everyone who needs this service so we can assess everyone's individual needs.
At this time, however, we cannot do live captioning, so we will add captioning to the class videos before they are posted to the site within 7 days following the retreat.
We will continue to explore ways to improve accessibility as we hold future retreats.
What kind of technology do I need to participate?
You're going to need two things to participate: 1) a device and 2) a connection to the internet. It would be great if you also had a camera connected to your device so we can see you too!
For your connected device: your best experience is going to be participating on a tablet or laptop. While you can join us via a smart phone (such as an Android or iPhone), you'll have a better experience and get to see more of the retreat if you use a larger screen.
The best browsers to use, in this order: Chrome, Firefox, Safari.
Don't worry if you are not "tech savvy" - we will have step-by-step instructions for you, and we will walk you through every step of the way!
I took XYZ Class before and we used Zoom. Does this retreat use Zoom?
This isn't a typical class, or a webinar, or anything you've done before. It's a live, interactive event, we are expecting hundreds of attendees, and to run it smoothly we need the right technology to meet our needs. We don't want you focused on the technology or to make that a barrier; just think about the amazing experience you are going to have, and let us worry about the tech. Our #1 goal is to make this a great experience for you!
How loud is this going to be with everyone sharing video and audio?
Don't worry! We want to leave the option open for everyone to ask questions, comment, share, but also control the noise too. When you are in the general sessions, as organizers we have control over the audio inputs; when you are in smaller sessions with fewer participants, you can work that out among yourselves. It's flexible enough to accommodate everyone's needs.
What if I can't attend the whole event?
Don't worry! You can join, leave, and join again as many times as you want. Come and go as you please!
Your registration fee covers you for the whole event; you get to decide how much or how little you want to interact with the instructors and other attendees.
What if I need to cancel? Can I get a refund?
Sorry, but no. No refunds.
Here's the thing. This event is online, and once you register we immediately provide you with access to our digital content. So, even though the retreat may not be for another week or two (depending on when you registered), because you gain access to our attendee area, have the ability to consume our supporting documents, and will be able to watch the recordings, we don't issue refunds.
What if I'm outside the United States?
We would love for you to join us! There are just a few things you need to know.
- All times are stated in US Central Time Zone. We are currently observing daylight savings. We aren't staffed yet to support a 24-hour retreat, but if you'd like to help us do that in the future please let us know!
- At a minimum, the class sessions will be recorded, and you will be able to watch replays of these sessions.
- We cannot directly sell you a retreat ticket if you live in the EU Economic Zone. Please contact us for options.
- The USPS has halted shipping to some countries. If this is you, we will have to hold your physical goods until shipping to your country resumes.
- Some goodies are restricted to Domestic US residents only due to shipping & freight limitations.
